About Reykjavik Trip

Reykjavik Trip exists to help English-speaking travellers plan a trip to Reykjavik and Iceland without the marketing fluff. We cover the Golden Circle and the Northern Lights, but also the things most travel blogs skip: which Reykjavik restaurants are overpriced for tourists, how to save on the Flybus versus shared transfers, and which "free" walks are actually free.

Our mission

Most travel content about Iceland is either a generic bucket-list article or reads like a press release. We aim for something different: specific recommendations, real prices in ISK and EUR, honest caveats about weather and road closures, and itineraries you can actually follow day by day — including what to do when conditions change.

We cover Reykjavik's neighbourhoods, the classic day-trips of the Golden Circle and South Coast, the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, the Westfjords, and multi-day ring-road itineraries for travellers with more time.

Who we are

Reykjavik Trip is published by Agence Xen, a small digital agency based in Geneva, Switzerland. We build and operate independent travel guides across Europe and the Middle East. Our editorial process is research-based: we combine on-the-ground experience with verified data (transport timetables, entry prices, seasonal road conditions) before publishing.

We do not accept sponsored content, press trips or paid placements. Our recommendations are our own. The only revenue model is the affiliate programme described below.

Editorial principles

  • Honest about tourist traps. Iceland has its share: overpriced central Reykjavik restaurants, inflated airport transfer options, and tours that overpromise on Northern Lights sightings. We name them and explain the alternatives.
  • Verified prices. All price data is checked and updated regularly. Where we are uncertain, we say so and point to the primary source.
  • GetYourGuide and Viator affiliation, declared. We earn commissions when you book tours through our links. We only link to tours we have reviewed and consider worth the money. Our affiliate relationship is disclosed on every page that contains booking links, and in full detail on our affiliate disclosure page.
  • Sentence case, no clickbait. We write like a knowledgeable friend, not a content farm.

How we earn revenue

Reykjavik Trip is a free resource. We earn a commission when you book tours and activities through our GetYourGuide affiliate links and our Viator affiliate links (Partner ID: P00305208, a Tripadvisor company). This costs you nothing extra — you pay exactly the same price as you would booking directly. The commission comes from the platform, not from you.

We do not use pop-ups, display advertising, email capture, or any other monetisation method. Read the full affiliate disclosure for details on how this works.
